PingMon Privacy Policy
The short version: PingMon is a client for your own monitoring server. Your monitoring data lives on your organisation's self-hosted PingMon server, not with Olga Downs LLC. The app has no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking, and never sells your data. It talks to your organisation's server over HTTPS and nowhere else.
What data the app handles
- Your account profile — your name, email address, role, and phone number — identifies you when you sign in, and is used to show who you are, display the on-call schedule, and route alerts. It is held by your PingMon server, not collected separately by Olga Downs LLC.
- A device push-notification token is registered with the platform push service (Firebase Cloud Messaging on Android, Apple Push Notification service on iOS) and stored on your PingMon server. It is used for one purpose only: delivering alert notifications to you while you are on call.
- Monitoring data — device statuses, latency, loss, throughput, alerts, and on-call schedules — is stored on your organisation's PingMon server. The app displays this data; it does not send it to any third party.
Authentication
You sign in either through your organisation's identity provider (OpenID Connect / Keycloak) or, where enabled, with an email address and password issued by your PingMon administrator. A password entered on the identity provider's page is never seen or stored by PingMon; a password set for a local PingMon account is stored only as a salted one-way hash on your server, never in the app.
What we collect
Nothing on our own servers. PingMon contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics or telemetry, and sets no tracking identifiers. It makes no network connections other than to your organisation's PingMon server and the platform push service used to deliver notifications.
Push notifications
When an alert fires while you are on call, your PingMon server sends a notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) or the Apple Push Notification service (iOS) to the device token registered for your account. These services deliver the message to your device and are governed by Google's and Apple's privacy policies respectively.
Your data, your control
- Your account and monitoring data are held on your organisation's PingMon server — contact your PingMon administrator to review, correct, or remove them.
- Signing out or deleting the app removes the local session and stops notifications to that device; the push token can be cleared from your server by your administrator.
- All communication with your server uses HTTPS.
Children
PingMon is a workplace tool intended for organisation members and is not directed at children.
